Alex Martone-Jackson
Camp Director
With over three decades of unwavering commitment to camp life and positive youth development, Alex is the driving force behind our year-round operation, ensuring that every summer at Runoia is filled with magic and growth.
A cherished member of the Runoia family since 1995, Alex originally hails from the Greater Manchester area of England. Her journey into the world of American summer camps began as a first-year counselor in Maine while pursuing her BSc in Physical Education and Sports Science. Alex found Camp Runoia while still a student, and ultimately made her full-time career here, building her Director role out of her passion for providing safe spaces for growth and learning, and her belief in the value of an uncomplicated, joy-filled summer. Her thirty plus summers at Runoia, including over a decade as a Director, exemplify her unwavering commitment to camping excellence.

Beyond the summer months, Alex leads and guides our year-round team, continuing to connect with families and overseeing camp upgrades and program design and improvements. Her meticulous attention to detail and dedication, in collaboration with the Leadership Team, ensures Camp Runoia’s spot as one of the country’s premier overnight camps.
A prominent figure within the camp community, Alex is not only a member of the Maine Summer Camps board but also has contributed to multiple committees over the years at the state, regional and national level. She has a Masters degree in Camp Administration and Leadership from Touro University; as one of Maine’s longest-serving American Camp Association Standards Visitors, she helps other camps be their best and uses that knowledge and experience to ensure Runoia exceeds expectations for safety and quality in all areas of camp.
Her dedication to upholding camp traditions while infusing a progressive spirit embodies her vision for Runoia’s longevity and excellence. With Alex at the helm, Camp Runoia continues to flourish, providing campers with unforgettable experiences and cherished memories year after year.
Mindy Martone-Jackson
Assistant Director - Director of Harmony Programs
Mindy is Assistant Director and Head of Harmony Programs, our shorter programs at Camp Runoia! With 7 incredible summers under her belt and a deep connection to Runoia, she’s here to make your child’s camp experience unforgettable.
Camp is more than just a job for Mindy. It’s a passion deeply rooted in her personal life and values. As a devoted mom of five, all of whom have experienced the magic of camp, including her youngest who thrived at HLC and is now a full-summer camper at Runoia, she understands the unique needs of both campers and parents.
Mindy is no stranger to life at camp. Starting as a cabin counselor when she was a college student, she fell in love with Camp Runoia’s mission and community before pursuing her professional degree in law. She returned as a full-fledged adult when her daughter was old enough to attend, and is thrilled to be back on Great Pond at the camp she loves.
Mindy excels in building strong relationships with parents and families, ensuring open lines of communication throughout the summer. Her vision for Harmony Land, Harmony Heights and Harmony Peak reflects her dedication to creating a nurturing, inclusive, and fun camp-within-a-camp experience. She believes in fostering each camper’s unique talents and interests, helping them grow and flourish, and giving them a safe and warm introduction to the Runoia community. She also provides support and guidance for our summer staff.
Mindy resides outside of DC with her partner, children, and a menagerie of pets and farm animals. She thrives on adventure, enjoying rock climbing, scuba diving, and exploring new places. She also loves fabric arts, reading books, and visiting any good farmers market.
With Mindy at the helm, Harmony programs are a extraordinary and unique place for our youngest campers to make friends and unforgettable memories and our oldest campers to have an amazing experience at the end of their camp journey. Join us for an extraordinary summer adventure!
Ali Wight
Assistant Director
Ali Wight, Assistant Director, has dedicated her career to supporting and uplifting children and families through education, counseling, and youth development. With a background in school counseling and education, she brings both professional expertise and genuine compassion to her role at Camp Runoia. Summer 2026 marks Ali’s 6th summer on Great Pond, and she cannot wait to return for another unforgettable season.
At Camp Runoia, Ali is often one of the very first people families connect with when exploring camp, and building those relationships is at the heart of both her work and her passion. She deeply values getting to know each camper and family personally and believes that strong, trusting relationships are the foundation of a successful camp experience. From a family’s first phone call or camp tour to summers spent growing together on Great Pond, Ali cherishes the long-lasting connections that camp creates and takes pride in helping families feel welcomed, supported, and truly known within the Runoia community.
Ali oversees many aspects of the camper and family experience, including enrollment, family communication, camper support, staff support, and day-to-day camp leadership. She works closely with families throughout the year to help campers transition successfully into camp life and collaborates with the leadership team to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every camper can thrive. Ali is deeply passionate about helping children build confidence, independence, resilience, and meaningful friendships.
Ali lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with her wife and two children. Prior to joining Camp Runoia’s leadership team, she worked as a counselor for the Allentown School District, where she was recognized as the district’s Teacher of the Year. Known for her tireless dedication to students, families, and colleagues, Ali built a reputation for going far beyond her role to advocate for children, connect families with resources, strengthen community relationships, and ensure every child feels seen and supported.
With her extensive experience, compassionate leadership style, and deep commitment to youth development, Ali plays an integral role in shaping the camp experience for campers, families, and staff alike. She is dedicated to ensuring every camper feels valued, supported, and empowered during their time at Runoia.
April Marini
Office Administrator
April first joined the Camp Runoia community in 2014 and has become an integral part of the camp’s year-round operations and leadership team. Living onsite during the off-season, April plays a vital role in keeping camp running smoothly behind the scenes and is often one of the friendly, familiar voices families connect with throughout the year.
As Runoia’s Office Administrator, April helps oversee countless operational details that support campers, families, and staff alike. From organizing logistics and communications to supporting enrollment processes and day-to-day camp operations, her attention to detail, reliability, and deep knowledge of camp make her an invaluable resource to the entire community.
In addition to her role at Camp Runoia, April now serves as the Team Lead for the Office Administrators across the broader Canyon Lands Camps Network, helping support and coordinate administrative teams across multiple camps. Her leadership, organization, and collaborative approach have made her a trusted and respected member of the larger Canyonlands community as well.
April shares her camp home year-round with her cat, Noodle, and during the summer, as many campers know, we are all joined by her beloved horse, Phoebe. Her love for animals, commitment to camp life, and caring presence help make Camp Runoia feel like home for so many campers and families.
Tim Pearson
Operations Manager
As Operations Manager, Tim is the heart and hands behind Camp Runoia’s beautiful, safe, and well-maintained campus. With a long history of working with camps throughout the region, he brings both deep experience and genuine passion to his role, living onsite year-round to help ensure every detail of camp operations runs smoothly.
Tim oversees all aspects of facilities, maintenance, infrastructure, food services, operational logistics and Runoia’s Trips Program.
From managing major construction and improvement projects to handling the countless day-to-day needs that arise during the summer, he is constantly working behind the scenes to keep camp running safely, efficiently, and comfortably for campers and staff alike. Safety is always Tim’s top priority, and he plays a key role in overseeing camp-wide operational planning, emergency preparedness, and risk management systems.
In addition to maintaining and improving Runoia’s historic campus, Tim coordinates many of the operational pieces that allow camp to function each day, ensuring that everything from meals and maintenance to transportation, supplies, and trip logistics runs smoothly. He is also deeply involved in supporting and helping lead Runoia’s wilderness and trip programs throughout the summer.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, Tim enjoys hiking, waterskiing, and backcountry skiing, and is actively involved in maintaining and stewarding backcountry ski zones throughout Maine. He is a valued member of Runoia’s leadership team and a familiar, supportive presence around camp, always ready to jump in wherever needed.
Pam Cobb
Director Emerita
After nearly 40 years of working to carry forward and nurture Camp Runoia’s legacy, Pam became Director Emerita in the fall of 2022. Pam continues her work with the mission-driven Camp Runoia Alumnae Organization (CRAO), championing Camperships and the Diversity Advisory Committee. She also will stay connected to the Maine camp community, including as a board member of the Maine Youth Camping Association and as a member of Maine Summer Camps, Maine Camp Experience, and a member of a long-standing camp director’s round table group. She has been appointed to the Maine Governor’s Task Force on Invasive Aquatic Plants and Nuisance Species and will serve with Maine EPA’s biologists and other interest group representatives.
