Do you remember your first dunk in Great Pond? Do you remember swimming to Oak Island and the sense of accomplishment you felt afterwards?

Have you been living your life secretly wishing you could return to Great Pond or complete an Oak Island swim?

Don’t worry. If you’re attending the 115th Reunion, you will have the chance to relive your glory days at the CRAO Swim-a-Thon on Saturday, August 13th at 9:15am.  (If there is too much wind or weather, we’ll postpone to Sunday, August 14.)

Our goal is to use this event to raise funds for the Betty Cobb Memorial Campership Fund, so we may provide camperships for girls who might not otherwise be able to attend Runoia.

Any age or ability can take part in this fundraiser and there are four great ways to participate:

  1. Oak Island Challenge: Swim to Oak Island and back!
  2. Oak Island Half Challenge: Swim to Oak Island and enjoy a canoe ride back to the waterfront.
  3. Great Pond Dunk: Take a dip in Runoia’s beautiful waterfront cove.
  4. Virtual Swim (for those unable to attend the reunion): Participate in a body of water of your choice.

This fun event will take place in the cove at Camp Runoia and will be overseen by a qualified water safety team with watercraft on the course to Oak Island and in the cove. No one will be left behind!

We are encouraging a minimum $30 registration fee/donation per swimmer.

Of course, if your goal is to raise additional funds for camperships, we won’t stand in your way and certainly would love any donations you are able to gather from sponsorships for the event contributed by friends and family through social media, and/or personal contact. We have templates for you to use for this purpose, or simply create your own fundraising page by linking to the Camp Runoia Alumnae Organization (CRAO) non-profit fundraising site on Facebook.  We will be happy to walk you through the process!

If you are interested in participating in this fun event, and raising funds for Camperships, please send an email to Krissy (Auns) Oliver krissyo263@gmail.com) or Nandy Florey Bradford (abradford712@gmail.com). We’d love to hear from you!

We can’t wait to see you all in the cove!
