Harmony Land Camp (HLC): A First Taste of Camp Experience

At Harmony Land Camp, our youngest campers, ages 6-9, are just beginning their camp journey. For many, it’s their first time away from home, and they get the extra support and nurturing they need to feel safe and happy. With fun, hands-on activities, these campers start discovering their love for camp life in a caring and structured environment. It’s all about new experiences, making friends, and creating early memories! HLC campers live with staff in one of our newest cabins, purposely built for HLC right in the heart of camp. HLC cabins are spacious and bright, and have bathrooms with showers. This unique “try-it” program has given so many campers a sense of belonging, independence, and community, offering a transformative intro-to-camp experience they’ll cherish for a lifetime. HLC 10 day sessions run throughout the summer.

Sample Daily Schedule for HLC

  • 7:30 am – Wake up
  • 8:00 am – Breakfast with full camp
  • 9:10 am – Assembly with full camp
  • 9:30-12 noon – Two Activities as a group followed by recreational swim
  • 12:30 pm – Lunch with full camp
  • 1:30 pm – Rest hour
  • 2:30 pm – Two activities followed by swim and showers
  • 6:00 pm – Dinner
  • 7:15 pm – Evening program with full camp
  • 7:45 pm – Milk and crackers evening snack
  • 8:00 pm – Wind down, reflection, story time and prepare for bed

HLC campers participate in arts, tennis, field sports, swimming, horseback riding, sailing, kayaking and more. They attend activities together as a group and mix with the rest of camp at meal times, special events and unstructured play time. HLC has special trips like an afternoon hike, a day at the Maine coast/beach or other adventures off campus as a group with their counselors.

Harmony Heights (HH) – Spreading Wings and Taking Leaps

For our more independent campers aged 10-12, Harmony Heights is the perfect next step. Here, girls get a bit more responsibility, while still surrounded by the excitement of camp for 10 days. Living together in their own Harmony Heights space, they dive into a variety of activities, from lake adventures to creative projects, all while growing in confidence, making lasting friendships, and trying out all that camp has to offer. This is a great option for older new campers, or campers who are not ready to commit to 3 weeks away from home. Harmony Heights campers follow the same daily schedule as our main camp, and have some choice in the activities they join. The program is intentionally structured to make sure they get a good taste of all camp has to offer during their shorter stay, including off-campus trips and hikes, as well as in-camp activities. Like Harmony Land, these 10 day sessions run throughout the summer.

Harmony Peak (HP)- A Home Base for Fun, Growth, and Adventure

For new or returning campers ages 13-15, Harmony Peak is the full Runoia experience in 10 days: being part of our Runoia family, classic summer camp activities, a choice-based schedule, and community traditions. Peak Campers will live together close to other Senior-age campers, creating their own close-knit cohort while connecting with the larger camp community. Whether it’s your daughter’s first camp experience or she just can’t fit 3 weeks into her jam-packed summer, Harmony Peak is a great way to experience camp in a way that works best for her!

Harmony Peak campers will choose their own activities from the same camp options provided to 3-week or longer campers, while benefiting from the smaller scale support of a camp-within-a-camp and the high touch camper and parent support of the Harmony programs team.

Unlike other short or try-it camp programs at other camps, Harmony Peak campers are integrated into the full larger community through activities, meals, all-camp events, and our Bees and Ellie’s competition, while sharing a bunk with cabin mates who start and end their session at the same time. It’s the best of both worlds. No trying to fit in to established cabin dynamics or the FOMO of leaving a cabin early! And no missing out on the full Runoia experience!

From young first-timers to almost drivers, the Harmony programs offer something special for every stage of growing up!

At Runoia, we believe that the early camp experience lays the foundation for a lifetime of personal growth, resilience, and a sense of belonging to a supportive community of like-minded people and that coming to camp during the late teen-years of transition can be a helpful anchor during a potentially stressful time of change. Join us in Maine for an unforgettable summer adventure where friendships and memories are made to last a lifetime!
