I am Abbie Marone and I am the director of Harmony Land Camp. This will be my 12th summer at Runoia. I was a camper for six summers, a CIT, a counselor for three summers, and this will be my second summer directing Harmony Land Camp. I’m the tall one in front in this picture from last summer! While I was a counselor, I taught swim lessons and I was also co-water front director.
My mom went to Camp Runoia and both my sister and I grew up at Runoia. I am originally from the Chicago area and moved to St. Louis to begin my undergraduate studies at Saint Louis University. While at SLU, I studied Early Childhood Special Education and was also on the rowing team. Currently, I am a kindergarten teacher in Columbia, Missouri and I am a graduate student at the University of Missouri, studying student learning and wellbeing.
I love working with children, being outdoors, being on the water, and spending time with friends and family. Runoia has been a growth experience for me as a camper and counselor. Some of my closest friends are from Camp Runoia. I have made great memories at camp and I’m thrilled my sister is returning to work at camp again this summer, too! I am looking forward to my second summer as Director of Harmony Land Camp helping young girls have profound camp experiences.
